THG Strategy Fits Needs of Global-Minded CEOs: Jon Stromberg

Fitness Needs

As more CEOs are looking globally to grow their businesses in an ever-challenging marketplace, they are seeking new avenues to extend their relationships and reach in many countries—a trend that mirrors THG’s experience offering hospitality packages across the globe, says THG CEO Jon Stromberg.

“Our C-level contacts and clients realize that as they expand their global reach in today’s ever-changing market, connecting with customers outside of an office atmosphere whether it be the Masters Golf Tournament or Singapore Grand Prix, to the World Soccer Championships or Americas Cup is a key advantage in allowing each to pinpoint and develop regional relationships around the world,” Stromberg says. “Language and cultural barriers seem to disappear when experiencing a global event of personal interest to customers.”

The assessment fits with findings from IBM’s most recent Global CEO Study, which highlights increased investments in global opportunities and an emphasis on building collaborative relationships with customers and prospects to engender future success. The study details the focus on relationship building is due to a more demanding and sophisticated customer bases across more countries and CEO recognition that quality customer relationships offer a way to differentiate their companies from competitors.

Through its 63 global locations, which span from London and Sydney, to Kuala Lumpur and Chicago, THG is seeing more evidence that affirms the IBM study findings. Companies are seeking THG’s assistance to craft hospitality offerings at a larger number of events in multiple countries to address their global business goals.

“Response and interest in our global THG Open Contract program is stronger than ever,” Stromberg says. A key benefit of the service, he explains, is the ability for companies to tailor the Open Contract to respond to business-and relationship-building needs at both corporate and regional levels.

For example, a global THG client that provides technology-based security solutions used the Open Contract format to provide relationship-building opportunities during the U.S. Open Golf Championships, the Autumn Rugby International’s, and the Malaysian Grand Prix in the past year.

“The company has now expanded its Open Contract and plans to allow each global region to use a portion of the funds to build customer relationships in targeted geographic areas, working in conjunction with THG’s Chicago office,” Stromberg says.

“Our Open Contract program is the perfect complement for C-level executives to meet their global business goals,” he says.

THG Worldwide specializes in offering hospitality options, including access to match tickets, exclusive team training sessions, players and management, VIP hospitality at matches, and exclusive club information and signed merchandise. Through unique relationships with leading actors and sports, film, theater and TV productions, THG is able to create a variety of unique hospitality programs. For more about THG’s global event hospitality offerings, visit www.thgworldwide.com.

About THG: THG is a leading provider of corporate hospitality programs at premier sporting events in the United States and abroad-including the US Grand Prix, World Cup Soccer, The Masters Golf Tournament, US Open and the Final Four. As a marcus evans company, all aspects of THG’s services promise a level of client focus and attention second to none.

Jon Stromberg currently serves as CEO of North America for THG. Jon began his career at THG in sales, progressing through the ranks to become CEO in October 2008. Read the latest about Jon Stromberg on his news blog.

Weight Loss Supplements, the Answer to the Obesity Problem?

Obesity Problems

With all the weight loss supplements on the market today, one does have to wonder why there are still over 2 million Americans battling obesity today. That number is even greater if you factor in that their children are, in many cases, obese as well. This is a serious situation for everyone! The problem is not necessarily no self control. There are many factors that play into this problem, such as the advent of fast food, processed foods and many homes needing two incomes which leaves little time for home cooked meals anymore.

Both parents work their 9-5 jobs, the kids are out of school usually several hours prior to the parents getting out of work.  Add in driving time to get home, mom is faced with the hungry hoard not wanting to wait at least another hour or so for dinner to be made, so what is the next best thing?   The quickest means to an end, fill the tummies of everyone including mom who worked all day. This makes for extremely poor choices for what to feed your family. Fast food 3-4 times a week, which is picked up on the way home, to save even more time. So what’s the average calorie intake per person for that meal?  Approximately, 1,000 to 2,000 (or more) of high fat empty calories.

How about the frozen dinners just waiting to be popped into the microwave for the family? Yes, unless  the shopper in the family is diligent on nutritional quality, there are just as many high fat calories packed in those “quick” dinners too! This epidemic is quite frightening to say the least. With today’s economy this way of life is not only extremely expensive but oftentimes the main reason for the obesity and many obesity related diseases.

Weight loss supplements, another “quick” solution? Not necessarily so. The companies that manufacture weight loss products rely on the consumer not making a lifestyle change which is exactly why this is a billion dollar industry.  There are no supplements that can counter the type of foods and the amount of calories that are consumed on a daily basis. In these tough economic times families need to get back to the basics of preparing meals in a time efficient manner. Crock pots are wonderful,  cut, dice and chop, toss it all in add some spices and water and turn it on for the 10 hours that you are away from home. There are many varieties of meals that you can come home to all ready to go, just make that salad, set the table and chow down a home cooked meal.

Get your children involved in the meal preparations, depending on what is appropriate for the ages of your children there are many things they can do to get dinner ready when they get out of school.  Children need to be taught how to make it work in preparation for their futures.  In the long run you will be teaching your children a lot more than just meal preparation. You will be teaching them the value of a dollar, how to utilize time wisely and making the proper choices for themselves as well as the families they will eventually have.

Some Symptoms of Stress

WHAT IS STRESS

There are many symptoms related to stress. It is only when our mind and body does not overcome the amount of stress that we have many symptoms of stress.

Symptoms of stress can be a death sentence. Stress symptoms can include gastrointestinal problems and this is why it is very difficult for the person to return to health.

Are symptoms bad?

Symptoms are important — if we listen and learn from them. Stress symptoms speak volumes about a state of well-being. The symptoms of stress are symptoms related to one of the main causes of stress: physical, electromagnetic/geopathic, thermal, allergies/sensitivities, toxins/poisons, nutrition, and emotions.

Emotional stress is what people consider when they think about stress. Emotional health is paramount to your health and well-being. To get a grasp on your stress you have to take time to understand your emotional state. When you do you can change it to reduce the stress in your life.

Name one symptom and it is related to stress. We all have stress symptoms. This is a part of life. How we each deal with stress in our lives leaves clues to our quality of life. Symptoms speak volumes to how we deal with life.

You want to be more specific? Your heart beat is related to stress. At rest it beats to pump blood through your body. The more you work, the harder it beats and when you really over-do it, it can’t keep up with your demands.

Physical stress, emotional stress, and nutritional stress all exhibit symptoms of stress in different parts of the body and mind.

But the question isn’t all the symptoms of stress that society keeps chasing. It is in finding the cause of stress related to your symptoms. Remove the cause of your stress and you remove the affect of your stress.

How to remove the cause of your stress takes work and dedication. There are some tools that work and some things you can do that will increase your stress. Find what works for you and make a stress management plan for a lifetime.

Stress is a normal response of your body to situations that you perceive as ‘dangerous’. We all have amounts of stress every day that we each have to deal with.

Burn this into your brain: Any symptom you have is related to stress to some degree or another!

A great practice to get into is to correlate the symptom you have to a particular stress. Is your symptom related to lack of sleep, bad food, insufficient exercise, or emotional stress?

Can you even identify your stress? Is your stress buried deep?

When you ask pointed questions about your symptom and your stress you might find an answer you need to move beyond your current level of health.

Physical symptoms of stress are virtually any symptoms that show up. Physical symptoms are a mirror from the body to the stress the person is going through. Chronic stress brings with it many of the physical symptoms you are probably dealing with today.

Symptoms caused by stress go through many physiological changes.

The first effect on the body is that blood is diverted from less vital to more vital organs. Over time and amount chronic stress, less blood in a certain area causes that area to become malnourished. Then this body part may give physiological symptoms.

All due to a stress response and reaction by the body. The cure? Remove the stress–THEN attend to the physical symptom.

After a period of time, your body will nourish the non-vital area once again and the body will heal. Can you see why addressing the physical symptom of stress without finding the cause of stress is foolish?

The first hallmark sign of the body’s reaction to stress is dysfunction of the adrenal glands; an adrenal enlargement. These are the stress glands of choice in the body. These glands literally become fatigued and “stressed”. Caffeine, sugar, inactivity, emotional stress, physical stress all have a profound effect on the adrenal system and lowers any chance of dealing with stress.

The second effect in reaction to stress is the activity of the lymphatic system; an intense shrinkage or atrophy of the thymus, the spleen, the lymph nodes and lymphatic structures throughout the body. They cannot keep immune surveillance. Do you know people who are always sick? Check out their stress and you’ll find a correlation.

The third effect of stress on the body is bleeding or deep irritation to the lining of the stomach and intestines. They literally ulcerate. Stomach ulcers. Intestinal ulcers.

It is when the mind and body does not overcome the amount of stress that we have effects of stress show up on the body.

Are symptoms of stress bad? If we listen and learn from our symptoms we can lessen the effects of stress and become healthy.

The Causes of Hair Loss in Women

Hair Loss

You’re not alone if you’re experiencing breakage, increased hair shedding or significant hair loss.

Hair loss in women is most often very gradual and is more easily affected by hormonal changes, medical conditions, and external factors. Hair loss in women is no less distressing than in men. More often women s hair loss is limited to the thinning of the hair especially around the crown area. A receding hair line is rare in women. It usually starts with the hair follicle becoming thinner, revealing more skin.

Hair loss or hair shedding is consistent within the hair growth cycle and it is normal to lose some scalp hair each day. The average human scalp has roughly 100,000 to 150,000 individual hairs and the normal hair growth cycle results in the loosening or shedding of about 100 to 150 hairs on a daily basis. New hair growth then emerges from these same previous dormant hair follicles, growing at the average rate of about half an inch per month.

Baldness or Alopecia happens when the normal pattern of hair growth is disrupted. The normal pattern of human hair growth is growing, resting, shedding and growing again. For a woman, thick, vibrant hair is our crowning glory, our vanity visible. Our culture strongly identifies femininity with a thick, silky head of hair. Society unfairly identifies dry, lack luster and thinning hair with old age, sickness and poverty.

Reasons for hair loss include physical, emotional, and genetic conditions. Hair loss can occur from many common causes that most women do not even think of. The number of women who suffer from stress and hair loss is growing. Stress leads to various health conditions which cause hair loss.

A woman’s hair is at its thickest by age 20. Once we pass 20, however, our hair gradually begins to thin, shedding more than the normal 100-150 hairs a day. For even the elderly woman, significant hair loss can threaten self image.

Female pattern baldness or Androgen tic Alopecia is the most common type of hair loss in women and is genetic in nature. The result is a shorter hair growth cycle, finer hair and excessive hair loss from shedding and breakage.

Coming off birth control pills and pregnancy can cause hair loss. Women may experience hair loss 2 – 3 months after having a baby.

Progesterone is another hormone that precisely targets the hair during menopause. It compensates by producing extra androstenedione, which prevents hair growth. Usually hair will return to its original thickness following menopause.

A healthy balanced diet, regular exercise, hydration and rest can go a long way towards preventing hair loss and maximizing the potential of your hair growth cycle.

Nutrition

Poor nutrition is often an underlying cause of hair loss as the hair is a reliable indicator of nutritional well being. Dull hair color or dry and brittle hair may be indicators of a deficiency in essential fats in the diet, oily hair may be a sign of a B vitamin deficiency.

Low-fat foods that rank high in protein, low in carbohydrates, can play a vital role in sustaining healthy hair growth and aid in preventing hair loss. Harsh chemicals may strip the natural oils from your hair and lead to breakage and poor hair growth. Dye, hair straightening and permanent solutions are highly destructive to the hair shaft and follicle as well as the delicate sebum balance of the scalp.

Be gentle with your hair. Allow hair to dry naturally rather than using a hair dryer. Wet hair is weak hair so handle with care.

Try not to constantly run your fingers through your hair, tug at the hair and avoid hair clips or rubber bands that pull at and break off the hair. Minimize the usage of mousse, gels and hair sprays. These products dry and weigh down the hair shaft and dull the natural luster of your hair.

Harsh hair treatment such as pulling with brushes, tight braiding and styling with irons and strengtheners can be a cause of female thinning hair.

Sun worshippers should make sure that hair care products have sunscreen properties to protect hair from the damaging affects of UV rays.

Hair loss is traumatic, however our hair is only part of who we are. Remember, that for some hair grows back as mysteriously as it disappeared

Finding what has caused your hair loss will greatly increase your chances of finding the right treatments to help re grow your hair.
